Scott aged 10
The birth of Annabel Fitzgerald, a young sister for Scott.
The Fitzgerald family move back to Buffalo, where Procter & Gamble transfers Scott's father.
Zelda enrols in first grade. She doesn't like it, and attends for one day only.
The Sayre family move to 6 Pleasant Avenue. (Zelda's home until her marriage.)
Zelda re-enrols and remains in first grade.
Edward Fitzgerald loses his job at Procter & Gamble. Scott later wrote about his father "That morning he had gone out a comparatively young man, a man full of strength, full of confidence. He came home that evening, an old man, a completely broken man. He had lost his essential drive, his immaculateness of purpose. He was a failure the rest of his days."
The Fitzgerald family return to St. Paul (514 Holly Street). The five years Scott lived on this block made an impression on him. He later wrote about his childhood activities in the magazine stories that he sold to Scribner's and the Saturday Evening Post.
Scott enters the St. Paul Academy, on Dale Street. He kept a diary from age 14 and wrote about wanting to be better in sports, but he found success in writing skits and acting in plays. However, his grades were so poor that his parents decided to send him to a Catholic Prep School in New Jersey. From age 15 onwards Scott was only back in St. Paul for holidays.
Zelda begins ballet studies.
