The Colombe d’Or restaurant,
Saint Paul de Vence, has been hung with an exhibition of Zelda’s pictures. A
party is being given for a private viewing. The Paris café crowd is there in
abundance - Pablo Picasso, Cole Porter, Ernest Hemingway to name just a few.
Zelda and Scott sing:-
There isn’t anybody here
Hasn’t got a reputation
No one up above their station
We simply are complete, elite
It doesn’t matter should it rain
Money is a gold umbrella
Look at you, you lucky fella
What a splendid crowd
The ocean’s warm and very blue
The wine is cold
Nobody here has any fear of growing old
This is an elegant affair
Isn’t everyone astounding?
Creativity abounding
Famous faces everywhere
Just a few Americans and only those who have
A given talent for displaying hidden wealth
And all around the writers the musicians and the artists
Oh so very tanned and all the picture of good health
For living well’s the only way
When nobody lives forever
Can we always be together
Bottoms up “ching” hip hooray!
